Sick, injured, or dead bird?

Don't approach it, and don't log it here. With H5 bird flu confirmed in Queensland wild birds in 2026, a bird that's sick, dead, or behaving strangely (can't fly, disoriented, unusually unafraid of people) needs a professional, not a photo for the challenge. Report it straight away:

  • Emergency Animal Disease Watch Hotline: 1800 675 888 (24 hours) — for anything that might be bird flu, or any unexplained illness or death.
  • RSPCA Queensland: 1300 264 625 (7am–7pm) or Wildcare Australia: 07 5527 2444 (24 hours) — for general injured-wildlife rescue.
